Engadget has some new rumors on the Zune’s battery life performance. According to their source (Matt Rosoff - a Microsoft analyst), battery life with the wireless turned off is expected to be around 12 hours for music playback of 128kbps files, 3.5 hours for video playback, and 4.5 hours when playing back a photo slide show. That’s a bit disappointing if you ask us - especially when you consider the battery performance of other well known digital audio players (namely the iPod and the Creative Zen). Come on Microsoft! Actually, one wonders if the blame should fall on Toshiba? Why you might ask? Well, I’m an owner of a Toshiba Gigabeat S which runs Microsoft’s Portable Media Center v. 2.0 software. It’s a great little PMP with one problem - battery life stinks. Toshiba’s new Gigabeat V series is supposed to rectify the battery life issue but the new player just doesn’t look as cool if you ask us.

Oh well - I hope this battery life rumor isn’t true.. but it’s all about the wireless feature right??? RIGHT????
