Yes it’s now the wee hours of the morning here in Los Angeles, but I wanted to make sure I blogged about the Zune Launch Party before I fell asleep for the night.  The Zune Launch Party here in Los Angeles was held at the famous Roxy Theater on Sunset Blvd and the special guest band was none other than the Red Chili Peppers. SWEET. The band came on around 9pm and played for nearly an hour and a half before calling it quits for the night.

I have to say - people began lining up to get into the Roxy WAY early last night. We got there at around 7:30 and there was already a line of about 20-30 people - all of whom were wearing Zune dog tags that looked like these.

You needed either these Zune dog tags or a special invite to get into the event. Since the concert wasn’t going to start till 9pm, my wife and I decided to take a drive/walk around the area. (There was actually no need to stand in line anyhow since there isn’t any seat assignments on the inside.. you just walk around and find a place to stand)

We got back to the Roxy at around 8:45pm and headed to the back of the line which moved fairly briskly. Here are some shots of the inside of the Roxy- sorry for the blurry pictures. It was dark on the inside and I really tried to keep the flash to a minimum.

Right before the Red Hot Chili Peppers came on, we took a quick pan around the Roxy. If you’re not familiar with the Roxy, it’s a very small cozy theater that can quickly get packed in no time (plus it gets nice and hot and sweaty inside!)

Here are some videos that I captured on my digital camera for your viewing pleasure. Sorry - I didn’t get captures of entire songs since.. well my arms were tired and I was running a tad bit low on batteries.

The night ended at around 10:45pm  and as we were heading out, Microsoft employees were handing out these Zune record sized souvenirs. Inside were two CDs full of songs, a couple of LPs, and some Zune related art materials. Pretty nifty.

Finally, I saw this tricked out car with an Xbox 360 connected to a Zune pumping out music in front of the Roxy. As Borat would say.. IS NICE…

Good night and have fun with launch day! More on the Zune as the day progresses (and as I wake up and head to work!)

Final note - many thanks to Cesar for hooking us up with the dog tags to get in!!!
