We all know that Microsoft has readily admitted that they would look into build a Zune branded phone. Well the rumors have heated up again as CrunchGear has posted some information about Microsoft execs being in a meeting today to work out the device details and the overall strategy behind the would be phone.

Here’s what CrunchGear has found out thus far from it’s source of tipsters:

• Zune phone will be a smartphone device
• It will work in concert with the Zune marketplace (if it didn’t, it would be retarded wouldn’t it?)
• It won’t run Windows Mobile (I’m personally find this one hard to believe)
• Will sync with the Xbox 360
• Video streaming from system to the phone via wireless

Now here’s the kicker. Supposedly the phone will be available in time for this year’s holiday season. What the heck?? Will Microsoft actually pull off a phone with all the goods in as little as 9 months time?? Maybe - given the immense resources of Microsoft but perhaps, the Zune phone may end up being a mixmatch of components from current products which unfortunately would be a bad thing. I’d rather Microsoft build something right from the ground up rather than taking existing components and glueing them together with a fancy GUI. Oh well.
