Red Zune to be available only at Target and Amazon for the first 30 days
We’ve got a bit more information on the upcoming Limited Edition Red Zune. According to MediaPost’s MarketingDaily, the Limited Edition Red Zune will be available exclusively at only Target and Amazon.com for 30 days beginning this Sunday. After this time period is over, the red Zune will be available in all the same retail locations where the Zune is currently sold.
Now what’s particularly interesting about this report is the supposed retail price for the Red Zune. MarketingDaily is claiming that the price for the new Zune will be $220 - which is a bit cheaper than the retail price for the rest of the Zune lineup.
What’s also interesting is this exclusive partnership with Amazon.com and Target for the initial release of the Red Zune. Could there be a “red” thing going on here? One thing is clear though - the Red Zune will play prominently in Father’s Day promotions for both companies.
One final thing - the article does mention the “iPod Amnesty Bin” that took place among the members of the Zune team a few weeks back. According to spokesperson Sara Bell, “The ‘iPod Amnesty Bin’ was a lighthearted gesture among Zune employees and was intended to be simply a humorous motivator for only the people who are working on the project”. Zune team needs a little motivating? I suppose we all do huh?
